Summer sandal picks

Wednesday, May 27, 2009 0 comments
I feel like I have way too many shoe/sandal posts, but I obviously have a problem. But I'm sure many of you are looking for some new shoes for the summer. I know I'm still on the look-out for a great pair. There are so many amazing sandals out there in a variety of price ranges, that it's hard not to find one you like. This summer you can't go wrong with a classic gladiator style. And the colors are endless. White is always chic, especially with little details such as gold studs. Or grab a pair in an attention grabbing shade, such as bright blue or purple. Whatever your style, there's definitely a perfect pair out there which you can wear all summer long. (Or if you're like me, way more than just one pair).

Birds of a feather

Unless you haven't gone shopping (even online) for the past year, you cannot have missed the boom of bird-inspired fashion. Little bird figurines are used in jewelry, bird feathers the inspiration for graphic tees and vintage earrings, and so forth. A figure of a bird can be made to look feminine, punky, or bohemian. I have to admit I've already got two bird inspired tops in my closet. What about you?

Monokini Swimwear

Monday, May 25, 2009 0 comments
It isn't exactly swimsuit weather where I am right now, but I know the sudden summer weather change will hit me faster than I can comprehend. So to prepare I've been on the search for some cute monokinis to wear on the beach during the day, and in the jacuzzi at night.

This will actually be my first purchase of a one-piece suit since I was 10, but because I haven't been keeping up with my exercise regime this quarter I thought certain parts should be hidden till then. My biggest conflict is whether I should go for a crazy print all over, classic solids, or more demure prints. Oh, the dilemma....

Katie Costello

I have just recently found out about Katie Costello Jewelry and I think I am in love. I spotted a celebrity wearing one of her necklaces, and I couldn't keep my eyes off of it! I have been searching high and low for the perfect everyday necklace and she makes a ton of them. Not only that, but she creates the most breathtaking earrings, bracelets, and rings. And it just so happens to seem that every piece is perfectly tailored to me. There is not one thing on her site that I would not wear. My favorite piece is #5.

1) 3 Charm Necklace, $150.00
2) Peace Leather Bracelet, $81.00
3) Square & Peace Earrings, $46.00
4) Turquoise Drop Earrings, $58.00
5) Triangle Knot Necklace, $173 ($132 on Katie Costello's website)

Stacked

I have to admit I wasn't a huge fan of the Jessica Simpson footwear collection when it first came out. We'll pass on the why, but recently I've seen many people wearing the collection, and I'm quite impressed. Of course I decided to check for myself (even though I have an exam in six hours). Although it consists of mainly heels, there are a few pretty sandals and flats in the mix. But the heels are definitely the shoes that shine. Here are my four favorites.

1) Celine Heels, $89.00
2) Hello Heels, $89.00
3) Delanco Heels, $89.00
4) Karson Heels, $79.00

Summer junk

Saturday, May 9, 2009 0 comments
Sorry for the lack of updates here. I've been lacking inspiration in everything the past couple of days. I'll try to post more frequently! Anyways, I don't know if you guys remember my obsession with the JJ Winters grey fringe bag that I posted about a few weeks ago. I finally found a close look-alike, though I don't know yet if I want to order it. It's definitely cheaper than $400 (it's $58). I found it at a site called, Fashion Junkee. If you haven't heard about it, it's been featured in many fashion magazines. They offer many designer inspired clothing, accessories, and jewelry for an affordable price. I, obviously, scoured through their handbag selection and found so many expensive looking items that's perfect to use as your new summer handbag.

Nude handbags are a great alternative to your original black handbag. It's less harsh, but it still matches with everything. It's all about details when you're carrying a neutral bag. The braided straps on the Kooba inspired bag is just the kind of detail you should look for when choosing a unique design. And white handbags are classic for summer. It's refreshing and the gold and black detailing in this flapover purse is so simple, but pretty.

If you already have a neutral bag, or you just want to try something new, bright colors are a huge trend for warmer seasons. What's more perfect than a pop of yellow or purple when you're out walking in a white tee and jeans? Patent works great for bright colors by making the color even more noticeable. If you're not a big fan of patent, a woven/mesh material is another great option.

Oh yes, how could I end this post without showing you the look-alike bag I found. Yes it's definitely a close match to the one I was lusting after, though it's very different at the same time. We'll see if it gets ordered or not.
